$300 towards $300

Join me in celebrating the Filipino Migrant Center's 11th anniversary. Please consider donating to support our ongoing work and invest in the empowerment and leadership of Filipino families, youth, immigrants, low-wage workers, and human trafficking survivors who are giving their voices, skills, and acts of compassion to build communities based on justice.

I've been volunteering with the Filipino Migrant Center for over a decade. The work continues to grow and inspire me! Some of my favorite memories and programs over the years--

*Watching "A Step Forward" -- a documentary made about FMC's Walking Club for seniors in West LB-- with the Walking Club members and their families in West LB as they celebrated the victory of their safe sidewalk campaign. I loved watching beam as they appeared on the big screen and their kids and grandkids taking photos of them like celebrities!

*Dropping off hot meals and groceries from Bebot owner Chef Boral as part of the Bayanihan Community Response during this pandemic. It gave us meaningful connection with each other, especially since we've been so isolated. It meant the world to be able to just chat with people from their driveways or patios or even during our kamustahan phone calls.

*Seeing the Bayanihan Community Garden Exchange blossom this year! What a cool intergenerational project that teaches us about land, shares Filipino vegetables and fruits, and demonstrates the power of our communities to nourish each other with what we have and carry on knowledge from the Philippines to National City, CA!

*Hearing the stories of so many caregivers and women migrant workers as part of the CARE project and later Diwang Pinay! It was an honor to hear their stories, write with them, and see a cultural performance come to life based on their stories, struggles, and triumphs that was debuted at the Pasadena Play House!

*Last by not least, every single summer I spent with Sama Sama and FREE youth who sang, performed, wrote poems, skits, and stories about their lives as Filipino youth and learned to stand up for what they believe in as the empowered youth leaders they are! The power of the youth continues to inspire and change our community for the better!

Help us keep it going to serve more youth, workers, and families in Southern California. Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for the FILIPINO MIGRANT CENTER!
